Emerald Valley Kitchen, an Oregon-based manufacturer of organic salsa, bean dips and hummus has been an award-winning socially responsible small business and leader in the organic food industry for over 20 years. Founder, Mel Bankoff, started the company with $125 in supplies and a desire to make healthy, delicious organic food. With his slow-growth approach and commitment to sustainability, Emerald Valley Kitchen not only succeeded as a business, but helped pioneer the natural food movement in the U.S.
In 2002, Mel sold Emerald Valley Kitchen to Monterey Gourmet Foods, a California-based manufacturer of gourmet pasta and sauces. With an eye on the fast paced growth of organics, Monterey Gourmet Foods was interested in finding a partner best suited for long term growth that could expand in other categories. Importantly, the partnership allows for stronger promotion of Emerald Valley Kitchen products. Emerald Valley Kitchen continues to operate in Eugene as it has done for over 2 decades - maintaining it's commitment to environmental sustainability and donation of 1% of its yearly revenues to ecological and humanitarian projects.
Emerald Valley Kitchen also continues its mission of supporting organic farming practices and educating the public of its importance. All foods produced by Emerald Valley Kitchen are additive and preservative free and certified organic, which means that their products have the highest quality and maximum amount of organic ingredients available.
The 6 salsas produced by Emerald Valley Kitchen (Mild, Medium, Hot, Fiesta, Green and Mango) are fat and cholestoral free, low calorie, high in Vitamin A and the red salsas are high in the antioxident lycopene. They are delicious with chips or tortillas and are great as sauces, marinades and for braising vegetables or meats.
Emerald Valley also makes three delicious bean dips (3 Bean Mild, Black Bean and Nacho Bean Supreme) that are among the most flavorful and healthy commercially available dips in the country. The flavor of these low calorie, high protein dips is best at or above room temperature. Excellent as a hot dip, a sandwich spread or on burritos and nachos, they make quick and healthy meals both kids and adults love.
Adding to Emerald Valley Kitchen delicious product lines is its variety of organic Hummus.
